Black Sabbath is credited with creating the music genre “Heavy Metal”. Tony Iommi laid down the first doom laden chords with Ozzy Osbourne wailing to the de-tuned guitar playing of Tony becoming the ultimate vendors of heavy metal.
Add to the mix drummer Bill Ward and bassist Geezer Butler and heavy metal was immortalized.
Reports abound that Ozzy was wasted daily during the taping of The Osbournes.
Having seen several of the episodes I have no doubt that those reports are true.
The Osbournes followed the daily life of Ozzy, his wife and manager Sharon and his two kids Jack and Kelly.
Ozzy could be seen getting fit on a treadmill during the taping of the show. As soon as the show was over he would go to his “bunker” to smoke a pipe while consuming a case of beer daily.
What gives this story legs is the recent comment made by Sharon “Ozzy would go to a room and get stoned as soon as the taping ended”.
“Mama, I’m Coming Home” is the third song on the 1991 Ozzy Osbourne heavy metal album No More Tears. The song is about his wife and manager, Sharon Osbourne, whom he nicknames “Mama”, and his return to her following his imminent retirement. The song was co-written by Lemmy, front man of the heavy metal group Motörhead. He was brought in as a songwriter for the No More Tears album, providing lyrics for the tracks “Hellraiser,” (which Motörhead also later recorded), “Desire”, and “I Don’t Want to Change the World.”
The single is Ozzy Osbourne’s only solo Top 40 single on the Billboard 100, peaking at number 28; his only other top 40 hit was his duet with Lita Ford, “Close My Eyes Forever” which peaked at number 8.It also reached number 2 on Billboard’s Mainstream Rock Tracks.

Goodbye To Romance was on side one of the album Blizzard of Oz released in 1980 written and produced by Ozzy. Other songs on the same album were written by Randy Rhoades, Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake.
Blizzard of Oz is ranked in the top 100 albums of the 1980’s by Billboard.
Goodbye To Romance was featured in the 2006 movie release It’s a Boy Girl Thing.
